The highly anticipated update to the gold standard guide to pressure injury prevention and management will be published in February, and Wounds Australia is pleased to host the worldwide launch. The 2025 edition of the Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guideline will be published on 28 February and available to download from the international guideline site. Wounds Australia is hosting two days of events to mark the release of this landmark publication: a media launch on Friday 28 February followed by a full day of professional learning about pressure injury on Saturday 1 March. Wounds Australia CEO Jeff Antcliff said the organisation took seriously its responsibility for improving Australian wound care standards. "As Australia's sole peak body for chronic wounds, we play an important role in helping clinicians and researchers produce world-class, evidence-based guidelines that enable clinicians deliver best practice care," Mr Antcliff said. "We're delighted to see the updated guideline published and know it will improve the lives of so many people living with wounds." CEO of Forward Ability Support and BrightSky Australia Melissa Decker said: "At Forward Ability Support and BrightSky Australia, we see firsthand the impact of pressure injuries on individuals with SCI and other conditions. Supporting the launch of this global guideline aligns with our mission to improve lives through best practices and innovation." Launch dayThe guideline is being launched at an invitation-only event in Sydney co-hosted by Wounds Australia Corporate Member Forward Ability Support | BrightSky Australia. A leading provider of spinal cord injury care, Forward Ability Support will co-host the launch at its impressive residential facility Ferguson Lodge in Lidcombe. The event will be attended by policymakers, clinicians and special guest speakers: Professor Keryln Carville (Curtin University, PPPIA) and Professor Zena Moore (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, EPUAP), both representing organisations responsible for the publication; and Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM, Forward Ability Support Chief Clinical Advisor, who lives with quadriplegia.
