Smith+Nephew marks 75 years in Australia
Wednesday, 23 July 2025

Congratulations to Wounds Australia Platinum Partner Smith+Nephew (S+N), who celebrated 75 years in Australia at an event in Sydney on Friday 18 July.

Wounds Australia Board Chair Kerry May joined a panel of distinguished guests to explore how medical technology innovation can support the healthcare system, improve patient journeys and enable S+N's vision of Life Unlimited in a discussion entitled "75 Years of Innovation: Technology Shaping the Future of Healthcare in ANZ".

Principal Podiatrist at Highett Podiatry, CEO of Frances Perry House and a long-time Wounds Australia member, Ms May drew on her vast clinical and leadership experience to highlight the importance of collaboration in wound care, speaking alongside athlete Erin Phillips, Medical Technology Association of Australia CEO Ian Burgess, and Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Justin Roe.

"Kerry wears so many hats and has a deep knowledge of the wound care sector," S+N Senior Clinical Manager Dr Frances Henshaw said. "The perspectives she shared clearly demonstrated that industry partnerships are integral to innovation and improved patient outcomes in wound care and it was a privilege to have her insights."

The event marked a significant milestone for S+N, reflecting on the organisation's journey from humble beginnings in Hull, UK, through the stewardship of now-divested brands such as Nivea and Elastoplast, to its current role as a global leader in wound, orthopaedic and sports medicine technologies.

We congratulate S+N on 75 years of excellence in Australia and thank them for inviting Wounds Australia to contribute to a powerful conversation on the future of wound care, innovation and healthcare partnerships.
