Clinicians: share these incredible free resources with your patients
Friday, 28 November 2025

Are you looking for ways to improve your patient's health literacy, educate them on wound prevention and management, and keep them engaged them in their own care? Be Wound Aware has the resources for you!

Be Wound Aware is Wounds Australia's Government-funded campaign to educate the nation about chronic wounds. Our survey showed that too many people still hold harmful misconceptions about how to treat basic cuts and grazes, when to seek professional help and the factors that increase their risk of developing chronic wounds.

Be Wound Aware cuts through the confusion with easy to understand, evidence-based information aimed at the layperson.

At woundaware.org – the home of Be Wound Aware – you'll find:

  • Simple factsheets covering the basics, available in Australia's six most commonly spoken languages
  • Information about specific chronic wounds such as burns, leg ulcers, pressure injuries
  • Guides to conditions commonly associated with chronic wounds, such as diabetes and venous insufficiency
  • Easy-to-follow advice for protecting skin integrity through moisturisation, and nutrition and hydration
  • Resources designed specifically for First Nations Australians on caring for the diabetic foot
  • A free quarterly newsletter with videos, advice from experts and tips for better healing.

Coming in 2026

Watch out for a range of Wound Wisdom videos featuring expert clinicians giving basic advice on good wound care, plus an exciting new tool that will make all our resources completely accessible to the differently abled, in a range of languages, and catering to a range of different reading needs. It's part of our commitment to bringing vital wound care advice to as many people as possible.

Resources you can rely on

We work with advisory panels made up of professionals and consumers who help to ensure our resources are easy to understand, accessible and based on the best evidence from research and practice. All materials are checked by a health professional before publication and regularly reviewed, so you can be sure your patients are receiving the best information.
