Who are you and what do you do for a living?

I am a Registered Nurse Division 1, Wound CNC, Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner and an Australian Natural Therapists Association-accredited Clinical Nutritionist.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Helping others reach their full potential to heal and manage their conditions. I love seeing people heal and get their lives back, and making a difference!

Why did you pursue this field?

I wanted to be a nurse from the age of 5 as I always wanted to help others.

Tell us about your volunteer work for Wounds Australia – now and in the past. What does it involve? What do you hope to achieve?

I have been a director on the Board of Wounds Australia which I thoroughly enjoyed. They are an amazing group of people trying to reduce the harm of wounds.

I am a volunteer on the Victorian Committee and the current chair of the Wounds Australia Credentialing Committee. I try to be as involved as I can as we need to ensure that people have access to appropriately qualified clinicians nationwide.

What do you enjoy about volunteering generally?

I have always been a volunteer. I enjoy being able to give back to my local community as well as wider communities.

At the age of 12, I joined the Junior Country Fire Authority Brigade and continued into the senior ranks until I started my family, after which I became a volunteer for the St John's Ambulance.

I love being part of Wounds Australia – even if the CEO likes to discuss opportunities in the "lion's den"!

What is your proudest achievement – personal or professional?

Professional: my Master of Wound Care from Monash University and the Master of Nurse Practitioner I'm about to start. I'm also proud of my commitment to Wounds Australia.

Personal: my family, which includes my husband, our two daughters, son-in-law and three grandchildren. My cup is full.

What did you want to be at 10, 18 and 30 years old?

At 10, a nurse or firefighter. At 18, an electronics engineer. And at 30, a nurse.

How do you spend your spare time? Hobbies?

What spare time? I just built a new clinic! But I enjoy gardening, studying, most of all being with my family.

What do you wish you'd known when starting out?

Although things may seem hard at the time, they are very easy once completed. I have never given up on anything and would encourage others to always pursue your dreams – nothing is impossible with the right attitude and an ethical grounding.
