Wound Fundamentals Skill track launches
Friday, 4 April 2025

We're excited to announce a new Skill Track in Wound Fundamentals presented in partnership with Ausmed – Wounds Australia Gold Partner and Australia's leading provider of continuing professional development in health.

Endorsed by and designed with Wounds Australia, the online Skill Track is led by renowned wound care educator Sue Templeton and aimed at nurses and other health professionals caring for people living with wounds.

Its three modules describe best practice in these aspects of wound management:

  • Wound Assessment
  • Wound Cleansing and Debridement
  • Wound Dressing.
Complete the modules and pass a capstone assessment – around six hours in total – to receive a Certificate of Accomplishment endorsed by Wounds Australia.

Supporting better wound care delivery

Wounds Australia's mission is to improve wound care for more people, and education in best practice is one of the ways in which we strive to achieve this.

Wounds Australia CEO Jeff Antcliff said: "We're incredibly pleased to present such high-quality professional development with our Gold Corporate Member Ausmed, true innovators in online learning. It has been a genuine pleasure to work with William Egan and the Ausmed team over the last 12 months to make this a reality and we know it will support more clinicians to deliver the absolute best wound care and improve healing."

Ausmed CEO William Egan said: "Ausmed is highly focused on building the capability of Australia's healthcare workforce at scale. You simply can't offer wound care skills to the 400K nurses, let alone the 2.2 million people working across our acute, aged, community and disability sectors, unless it's online. Jeff and the team from Wounds Australia share this vision for the large scale distribution of effective wounds education and assessment online.

"We think that these types of industry certified micro-credentials will play an increasingly bigger and bigger part of the future of skill acquisition for Australia's health workforce."

Additionally, Wounds Australia will receive a donation from each enrolment that will help fund research, education and awareness-raising activities.
