Is 'more professional development' one of your New Year's resolutions? Get learning with Wounds Australia! Where else could you upskill in palliative care in Canberra, wound hygiene in Perth, the art of HEIDI in Adelaide, or skin care for ageing Australians in Brisbane? Our national wound care events schedule - including several incredibly popular webinars now available on-demand in our member's area - flourished in 2024 because of the hard work of volunteer committees around the country. Our NSW Committee was pivotal in making our online events a success, providing an important way for members unable to attend in-person events to access wound care learning. Meanwhile, our new Victorian Committee hit the ground running with three events, including a wildly successful education day on the NSW/Vic border. Looking ahead to 2025On the subject of regional events, there is a huge appetite beyond the metropolitan areas for wound-specific education and we plan to meet these needs in 2025. Please check our Events page or sign up to our fortnightly newsletter, The Gauzette, for details. Already plans are underway for a superb array of workshops, presentations, and livestreams for 2025. Our Queensland events schedule launches in January with a webinar on palliative wound care with renowned wound care expert and Past President of the European Wound Management Association Professor Sebastian Probst. On 28 February, the global spotlight lands on Sydney as Wounds Australia hosts the worldwide launch of the newly updated International Pressure Injury Guideline. To celebrate, we'll be offering a day of education on pressure injury diagnosis, management and prevention delivered by renowned experts like Professor Keryln Carville, Australia's representative to the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance, and Professor Xena Moore, Chair of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. In March, we're delighted to mark Lymphoedema Awareness Week (3-7 March) with a national events series called Beyond the Wound: Chronic Oedema. Stay tuned for details of an event in your state or territory. And remember: Wounds Australia members enjoy big discounts on all our professional learning - just one of the many benefits of membership. Join today. See you in 2025! Thanks to our volunteersOur events would not be possible without the hard work, passion and commitment of Wounds Australia members around the country who volunteer their time and expertise to organise top quality wound education.
