Rural and Remote Grant
The $2000 Rural and Remote Grant is offered annually to support a wound care professional practicing in a rural or remote setting to further develop their knowledge and professional network through work placement learning opportunities.
The grant enables the recipient to arrange a placement with a metropolitan area wound centre, plastics practice, or multidisciplinary foot centre or with a clinical mentor with specialist wound expertise. Applicants must live and work in rural and remote locations within Australia, for example outer regional, remote or very remote areas, as defined by the Australian Government Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Area classification and the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC).

In recognition of Wounds Australia Life Member and Fellow, Jan Rice.
The Wounds Australia Rural and Remote grant was established in recognition of Life member and Fellow Jan Rice for her outstanding contribution to the field of wound management and education. Jan has been recognised for her voluntary work, her support and service of people living with wounds in Australia, developing countries and disaster areas.
She is a Life Member and Fellow of Wounds Australia and has held positions on the Wounds Australia Victorian state branch and the National Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA). She has been an Executive Board Member of Wounds Australia and Chair of the incredibly successful 2018 Wounds Australia Conference.
Her work has enabled communities to deliver modern wound care in novel and innovative ways, adapting to often-challenging environments. Jan is passionate about not just providing wound care but ensuring local health care workers have access to education and professional learning to deliver the best possible ongoing care for clients. Her passion for education has seen her develop and deliver wound management courses across Australia and internationally and has resulted in sustainable wound care services for those who need it at local and community levels.
