A key part of Wounds Australia’s role as a national peak body is working with policymakers to effect system-level change that brings about real and meaningful results for Australia’s wound sufferers. Following a very productive meeting with Australian Health and Aged Care Minister Mark Butler MP, Wounds Australia Chair Hayley Ryan and Wound Awareness Week Ambassador Professor Fiona Wood AM (pictured), along with our CEO Helen Jentz, also sat down with ACT Minister for Health and Wellbeing Rachael Stephen-Smith MLA to explore ways to reduce costs and improve wound care for more people through our 11 Point Plan. Minister Stephen-Smith was especially interested in discussing wound care models that raise awareness in the community and help reduce visits to ACT emergency departments. We’re looking forward to working with Minister Stephen-Smith’s office in the future. Read about our meetings with The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, and ACT Shadow Minister for Health and Wellbeing, Leanne Castley MLA.
